On May 30, an activist in a traditional Russian dress held a single picket in the center of Yaroslavl. She depicted the "Yaroslavna's incantation" because of the garbage transportation from Moscow to Yaroslavl.
Eco-activist Svetlana Abramovskaya came to the monument to Fyodor Volkov with a poster "Yaroslavl — the capital of a Garbage Ring?". She told «7x7» that this was her first experience of such public activity:
"I wanted to make a reference to "Yaroslavna's incantation", because we are on the primordial Russian land. We got trouble: they bring Moscow garbage to us, but we ourselves have an environmental disaster. Yaroslavl is a tourist center, you can not cover it with rubbish."
During the picket nearby, one of the volunteers collected signatures against garbage and for the resignation of Governor Dmitry Mironov.
In 2017, the headquarter of the Union of Golden Ring Cities was opened in Yaroslavl, and the city authorities called it the capital of the Golden Ring.
Governor Mironov allowed to transport garbage from the capital into the Yaroslavl region; on May 20, Yaroslavl citizens demanded his resignation.
At the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, the son of Prosecutor General Igor Chaika and Mironov signed a contract for the construction of a garbage recycling plant worth 5 billion rubles.
