Back in early May, 'Orlets' got a warning from Roskomnadzor, but it was about the inclusion in the special register of LLC 'City Media', and not the portal orl.ec, which has nothing to do with City Media as a legal entity, although almost the same people work in both media.
The letter from the supervisory agency was ignored because of this confusion. After 5 days representatives of the 'City Media' were summoned to the Moscow office of Roskomnadzor for a meeting and it turned out that there was a 'mysterious' letter from the FBS administration in the Oryol region.
After two meetings, it was decided to fine the editorial board of the free Oryol encyclopedia by 100 thousand rubles, since the deputy head of the Roskomnadzor department 'had no reason not to trust the letter from the FSB'.
The editors of the Oryol opposition media intend to defend their rights in court.
‘Orlets' was founded in 2011 as a free Oryol encyclopedia. Being independent, it is one of the five most visited resources in the Oryol region. The authors of 'Orlets' touch on acute social and political issues and use satirical methods in their criticism.
Major searches of the authors of 'Orlets' took place in July 2013: law enforcement officers checked the materials for 'insulting the feelings of believers'.
