Voting stations in Altai Krai will be named after residents who participated in the war in Ukraine, as announced by the local election commission on January 31. These stations will be utilized for the presidential elections scheduled for March 2024.

Voting stations in Altai Krai will be named after local military men ahead of the presidential elections scheduled for March 2024. The idea originates from the regional division of the Russian Military Historical Society and the local election commission.

Altai Krai's election commission is not the only entity incorporating the theme of the war in Ukraine into the elections. Sergey Nosov, the head of Magadan Oblast, proposed activities such as weaving camouflage nets and creating trench candles to take place at polling stations.

Since the beginning of the war, various locations in Russia, including streets, parks, schools, and even a playground, have been named after military personnel. In Buryatia, the mother of a young man who died in Ukraine purchased training equipment for a playground in her native village. The locals named this place 'Solnyshko' ('Sunshine') in honor of the soldier and were planning to install a commemorative plaque there as well.
