Former Channel One journalist, Marina Ovsyannikova, has had her parental rights revoked following her anti-war protests. The SOTAvision publication reported this on October 26th.

On October 26th, a Moscow court granted the request of Marina Ovsyannikova's ex-husband, Igor Ovsyannikov, to deprive her of parental rights regarding their 17-year-old son, Kirill, and 11-year-old daughter, Arina.

Currently, Arina lives with her mother in Paris while her son stays in Russia with his father. Testifying against Ovsyannikova in court, her ex-husband claimed that, after leaving Russia, she asked their son not to enroll in a Russian university and interfered with his studies for entrance examinations.

In March 2022, Ovsyannikova displayed an anti-war poster during an evening news broadcast on Channel One. Later, criminal charges were initiated against her for a single picket with a placard about Putin and the killing of children in Ukraine. In absentia, the court sentenced the journalist to 8.5 years in prison. Marina's former husband, Igor Ovsyannikov, is a director for the Spanish branch of the Russia Today channel.
