The Prosecutor General's Office has appealed to the Supreme Court of Russia with an administrative claim for the annihilation of the Memorial International Historical, Educational, Charitable, and Human Rights Society* Non-Governmental Organization. The court session is scheduled for November 25. The organization itself reported this to 7x7 on November 11.

The Prosecutor General's Office believes that International Memorial* has repeatedly violated the law on foreign agents by releasing materials without labeling.

"We have repeatedly stated that the law was originally born as a tool to deal with independent organizations, and insisted that it should be repealed. However, as long as the law exists, we are forced to comply with its requirements.

We believe that there is no legal basis for International Memorial's* annihilation," the organization said in a statement on Facebook.

Memorial* is, according to its website, more of a movement than a single organization. The movement is based on the ideas of restoring the historical truth about mass political repression in the USSR and protecting human rights in the present.

Memorial’s* structures have been repeatedly fined as they did not provide foreign agent’s labeling.
