In Arkhangelsk, on January 16, 15 people held a rally in support of politician Alexei Navalny, who is going to return to Russia after treatment in Germany on January 17. Sever.Realii* reported this.

According to coordinator of Navalny's headquarters in Arkhangelsk Elizaveta Bychkova, activists recorded a video message to the politician to support his decision to return to Russia.

“The actions of the security officials make it clear that we should expect more dirty tricks. Another fabricated case against Alexei is one of the dirty tricks. Such things are constantly happening around him, and the actions of the authorities are not surprising at all. This is pure profanity,” she said.

There were also volunteers of Navalny's headquarters in Arkhangelsk and eco-activists among the participants of the rally. It lasted an hour, no one being arrested.

Alexei Navalny has announced that he intends to return to Russia from Germany, where he was treated for five months after being poisoned with the Novichok nerve agent. The politician announced that he would arrive at Vnukovo in the evening of January 17 on a Pobeda Airlines flight. Immediately after that, the Federal Penal Correction Service reported that Navalny had been wanted since December 29 for "evading control" during the probation in the Yves Rocher case.

Navalny's team invited the politician's supporters to meet him at the airport. In response, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office warned citizens through its website against the participation in an "unagreed mass event" at Vnukovo Airport on January 17. And the Federal Penal Correction Service said that "it would take all actions to detain" Navalny before the court that would consider replacing his conditional sentence with jail time in the Yves Rocher case.

In Moscow, on January 16, police officers visited some of Navalny's associates and tried to give them warnings. In St. Petersburg, activist Alexandra Shashok, who was going to Moscow to meet Navalny, was detained by the police because of last year's action of solidarity with Khabarovsk. And a car of Otkrytka’s activist Dmitry Skurikhin, who was going to the meeting with Navalny from Leningrad Oblast, was seized because of the inscription "Say no to Putin!".

On January 12, the ECHR communicated the politician's complaint about the refusal to initiate criminal proceedings on the fact of his poisoning.
