The Pechora Environmental Prosecutor's office organized an inspection of the oil pipeline break at the LUKOIL-Usinskneftegaz due to which about 7 tons of petroleum products had been spilled. On August 3, the press service of the Komi Prosecutor's office told 7x7 about this.

According to the Prosecutor's office, on August 1, when dismantling the old pipeline, a worker of the contractor damaged the operative oil pipeline 29 km away from Usinsk. As a result of the accident, about 7 tons of floating oil spilled over an area of 0.48 ha.

25 people are correcting the problems caused by the oil spill, they have already collected 16 cubic meters of contaminated land.

The oil pipeline belongs to LUKOIL-Usinskneftegaz, which is part of the LUKOIL-Komi Joint-Stock Company. The Usinsk Forestry Department and the local branch of the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Supervision will decide in response to the oil spill whether to conduct an administrative investigation or an unscheduled inspection.

At the end of July, eco-activists from the Save Pechora Committee suspected LUKOIL-Komi of destroying the forest near oil wells in the Sosnogorsk District. Environmental defenders believe that the plants could have died due to local water spill. Oilfield workers denied their involvement in the forest mortality in their response to 7x7.
