The Arkhangelsk Regional Court found a fine of 2 thousand rubles to Alexander Mironov — the activist who in the summer of 2019 placed three banners "STOP #SHIES!" in the Plesetsk district — legal, the correspondent of "7x7" reported.
After the court session, Alexander Mironov and his lawyer Ernest Mezak stated that they would appeal the decision to the European Court of Human Rights. Alexander Mironov wrote on his page on vk.com after the trial: "There is no justice in our country, we will defend our rights in the ECHR.”
The first billboard appeared in the center of Plesetsk on July 11, 2019. The other two were placed the next day at the gateway to the village of Savinsky and in the village of Severoonezhsk. The banners remained there for 22 hours after which they were removed.
In the autumn of 2019, a statement from the Prosecutor's office was sent to the OFAS. The statement itself stated that the advertising structure could only be used for advertising which did not relate to the "STOP #SHIES" banners. In October, the Service fined Alexander Mironov for 2 thousand rubles for illegal advertising. Mironov and his human rights defender appealed this decision to the Plesetsk District Court and currently to the regional court.
It became known in the summer of 2018 that the Technopark Company started to build the landfill for Moscow waste at station Shies in Lensky district of Arkhangelsk Oblast. Residents of the Komi Republic and Arkhangelsk Oblast are protesting against the construction, organizing all-Russian protests actions and have been on duty at the construction site around the clock since December 2018.
