Greenpeace Russia published film Our Heart is This Land about two indigenous peoples on different sides of the Atlantic Ocean, which confront the oil industry impending on their land. Environmentalists published the film on December 10.

In the film, two nationalities - Khanty from Russia and Secwepemc from Canada - faced with large oil-producing corporations - LUKOIL and Trans Mountain that found hydrocarbon fossils in the sacred lands of the peoples. Representatives of the Khanty and Secwepemc are trying to save their land from environmental disaster — and thus preserve their own unique culture.

Khanty is low-numbered indigenous peoples of the North living mainly on the territory of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, they are representatives of the Ural race. Their traditional trades are hunting, fishing, and reindeer herding. In the second half of the XX century, large deposits of hydrocarbons were found on the lands belonging to Khanty. You can read more about life, beliefs, and conflicts with corporations in our story.

Secwepemc is an Indian nationality mainly residing in the Canadian province of British Columbia. They belong to the Shuswap language group.
