The FSB Directory of Russia in Smolensk Oblast opened a criminal case against a resident of Smolensk, who published several approving comments about the deceased Mikhail Zhlobitsky, who is the only suspect in the case of the explosion in the FSB office in Arkhangelsk, on his page in the social network. Local magazine readovka67.ru wrote about it with reference to its own sources on November 14.

The FSB suspects the pensioner under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code ("Public Justification of Terrorism Through the Use of the Internet"). According to the magazine, the pensioner explained that he had simply expressed regret for the death of Zhlobitsky at a young age in the struggle for ideals and had allegedly compared him to the Russian revolutionaries, on whom the Soviet generation was brought up.

The explosion in the office of the FSB in Arkhangelsk Oblast occurred on October 31, 2018 - the alleged perpetrator died, and three FSB officers were injured. Immediately after the explosion, the versions that the deceased young man was an anarchist and committed explosion as a political gesture appeared on the Internet. Criminal cases were opened against Pskov journalist Svetlana Prokopyeva (because of her reasonings about Zhlobitsky’s motives) and some Internet users, who had expressed their sympathy to the deceased person.
