Urdoma entrepreneur Boris Sidorov, who collaborated with the builders of ecotechnopark Shies, was detained by the police. This information was confirmed by the press service of the Arkhangelsk Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Arkhangelsk media have suggested that the detention is connected with illegal logging of forest around the construction of a landfill site (ecotechnopark) near the station Shies. He was called the "chief supplier" of the builders. Allegedly, his employees are engaged in the delivery of building materials, final finishing of nearby territories and the supply of food. This was confirmed by the activist of the Vychegda Rescue Committee Nikolai Viktorov from Urdoma, he refused to characterize his fellow villager because of the difficult situation the entrepreneur had fallen into.
According to the database "Kontur.Focus”, Boris Sidorov owns and manages three Urdoma companies: “RemStroyService”, “TP Sirius-S ”and “Alliance”. All three companies in 2017 lost more than 40% of revenue. They employ 20 employees. No one answered the phone. "RemStroyService" is engaged in the maintenance of the repair of transport, "TP Sirius-S" and "Alliance" sell food and alcoholic beverages.
Entrepreneur Boris Sidorov supported the construction of a landfill in the Lenskoy district of the Arkhangelsk region. In his opinion, this will attract investment in the region, and new work places will appear in Shies. In one of the speeches, he was praised by the governor of the Arkhangelsk region, Igor Orlov, as a “patriot-worker”.
Near the Shies station on the border of the Arkhangelsk Region and the Komi they are building an ecotechnopark, where they plan to dispose of waste from Moscow.
Environmental activists consider the construction of the landfill at Shies illegal. On March 1, the Urdoma administration lost in the arbitration court the Directorate of the ecotechnopark and could not legally stop the construction. At Shies, activists are keeping watch.
On January 12, 2019, activists created the interregional social movement “Committee for the Protection of Vychegda”. On March 3, in different regions of Russia, an action "Russia is not a garbage dump" was held, the participants of which protested including against the construction of a landfill in Shies.
