Attack on blogger Konstantin Ishutov, accused of rehabilitating Nazism

The Chuvash blogger Konstantin Ishutov was beaten in the post office on the morning of October 9. His lawyer Yury Ivanov informed «7x7».

At 9 am, Ishutov was standing in line at the post office when an unknown person attacked him:

"An unknown strong-built man with the words, "Are you the boldest here?" punched him to the liver area at least once when Konstantin was waiting for his turn," said Ivanov. "After that, the attacker disappeared. The police refused to seize the video of the incident. Ishutov filed a complaint demanding that the attacker be brought to justice. He assessed the punch as professional and trained."

The lawyer suggested that the attack was intended to intimidate his client.


Konstantin Ishutov was arrested on October 4 in the case of the rehabilitation of Nazism, searched his house and seized all electronic equipment. He is being prosecuted for publishing German leaflets from the Second World War, in his post he compared Wehrmacht prisoners of war and Russian citizens. He was released from custody on October 8 and banned from using the Internet for two months.

Chuvash bloggers expressed support for Ishutov. Ishutov often published critical posts about the work of the power structures of Chuvashia in his social networks.

In 2018, lawyer Yury Ivanov was fined one thousand rubles for posting a historical caricature with a swastika on social networks, he complained to the ECHR.
