In the evening of September 19, two unknown persons tried to beat journalist and blogger Maxim Novikov near his house in the Trudolyubiya lane in the center of Tver. The victim reported this on Facebook. He linked this with his professional activities.
"Last night in the courtyard of a house in the center of Tver, I was attacked by two intruders. Two point shots of the "Osa" gun cooled their desire to inflict bodily injuries of varying severity. I just got a bruise on the forehead and pepper spray in my eyes," the journalist wrote.
Besides, Maxim Novikov recalled another attack — in 2013, unknown people took away his laptop. The police could not find intruders. Maxim Novikov previously worked as a correspondent on Radio Liberty and Kasparov.ru and had his blog on the Eсho Moskvy website. In his publications, in particular, he wrote about the problems of interethnic relations, economic raiding and the political situation in Tver.
Maxim Novikov does not disclose his current place of work and publications, claiming that social networks are the main platform for him. Portal "Tverigrad" linked the journalist with "The Other Tver", unregistered as a media resource. It publishes news and analytical texts on regional politics, in particular, on elections, resignations and appointments in the Tver region, and economic conflicts, for example the "war of minibuses" in the regional center.
The site "The Other Tver" was the first to report an attack on Maxim Novikov.
