In Kirov, eight people with posters in support of political prisoners, the Russian and Ukrainian flags, came to the city administration building on August 24. Among the participants were members of PARNAS, Solidarity and Open Russia. Their action was timed to the Independence Day of Ukraine, the correspondent of «7x7» reports.
The organizer of the action, the coordinator of the Kirov branch of the "Open Russia" Vadim Ananyin said that he admired the resilience of the Simferopol director Oleg Sentsov, who demands the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia and has been on a hunger strike for 103rd day. Sentsov was convicted of terrorism after the annexation of Crimea to Russia as a Russian citizen, but the activists believe that real terrorists are those who started the war with Ukraine.
Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov opposed the annexation of the Crimea to Russia in 2014. After a while he was detained by FSB officers for terrorism. Investigators considered burning the door of the office of "United Russia" in the Crimea as a terrorist attack. Since May 14, 2018, Oleg Sentsov announced an indefinite hunger strike in the Yamal colony. He demands the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners, except for himself.
