Kostroma citizens held a rally in memory of victims of political repressions

Kostroma citizens held ceremonies in memory of the inhabitants of the region affected by political repression in the Soviet years. This was reported by the city administration.

Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repressions is celebrated annually on 30 October. On the eve of this date a memorial rally and lithium for the innocent victims and dead in the camps and exile takes place at the memorial sign on the Peace Square. Over 30 Kostroma citozens came to honor the memory of their relatives and friends.

Special stone dedicated to the victims of Stalin's camps, appeared on the Kostroma Peace square a year ago. Its granite slab engraved: "To the victims of political repressions. Our tears and sorrow, our bitter memory!".

As noted by chairman of the Kostroma city public organization of victims of political repression Olga Ilina during the funeral ceremony, descendants are mourning not only for the dead but for those suffering for years in the camps, for their relatives and families.

'This is a great sorrow for Russia who lost its sons and daughters, a great spiritual potential. Bitter joy that we can come at the memorial stone in the memory of our loved ones in Kostroma and promise that we will remember while we are alive,' Olga Ilyina said.

According to Kostroma "Memorial", events dedicated to the victims of the Gulag will continue on 30 October. This day, tour of the memorial exhibition "Kostroma Golgotha" in St. Nicholas Church of Samet village will be held at 10:00 am, a memorial service will be held at 10:30 am for all the innocent victims and tortured during the political repression.
