The Hydrometeorological Centre and the regional media have repeatedly reported that the content of a very dangerous toxic substance in the air under adverse weather conditions exceed the limits many times. It is unknown how long this tendency persists, but the regularity of such violations is evident. The last case recorded by environmental prosecutor's office took place on April 5, 2015. On this day, the allowable amount of poison in the air was exceeded 12 times.

According to the official website of the Prosecutor of the Murmansk region, the inspection has revealed a number of violations of individual officials and the whole enterprise:

"Measures used by the Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company to reduce air emissions under adverse meteorological conditions and strong winds are ineffective. Head of the Department of the Environment of the Kola Mining Company violated the law in the field of non-compliance with environmental requirements in the operation of enterprises and was prosecuted with a fine. The action plan to reduce air emissions under adverse meteorological conditions and strong winds, developed by the Kola Mining Company is formal and does not comply with the law."

All these circumstances are set out in the statement of claim of the prosecutor's office to the Monchegorsk District Court. The supervisor requires to eliminate the violations and, most importantly, to develop a real and not a formal action plan to reduce emissions.
