The district police commissioner started checking on the application of the administration of Solovetsky village — whether a mourning rally in memory of victims of political repression was unauthorised.

The district officer summoned the 'Memorial' representatives to draw up a protocol. He began checking on the application of the village administration. The statement included an invitation to take part in the Days of Remembrance to Archimandrite Porfiry, who was also the governor of the Solovetsky Savior-Transfiguration Stauropegial Monastery and director of the State and Historical, Architectural and Natural Museum-Reserve.

According to «7x7» correspondent, the rally in honor of the Days of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression was held on August 7 in the Memory Alley of the village of Solovetsky. About 40 people took part in the traditional annual event organized by 'Memorial': representatives of the consulates of Norway, Poland, Lithuania, public figures, historians, relatives of the repressed. They laid flowers to the memorial complex and lighted candles. The representative of the Polish delegation laid a bouquet with a ribbon in the color of the Ukrainian flag instead of the consul of Ukraine, who could not come to Solovki.

'Since 1989, the Days of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression have been held every year, no notification has ever been required. The mourning rally is an integral part of Memorial Days, it is held every year, with the same form of invitation, it also informs the monastery and the museum. We don't know what changed this year,' member of the 'Memorial' Alexandra Krylenkova commented.

This year, the Days of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression on the Solovetsky Islands are held for the 29th time. From the 6th to the 9th of August, relatives of the repressed and other people interested in the history of the Solovetsky camp and special prisons visit this place.

On August 5, a commemorative action was held at the memorial cemetery 'Sandarmokh' in Karelia.
