On January 27, LGBT activists and volunteers of the Rakurs initiative group joined the #SaveLGBTinRussia nationwide campaign, which aimed to draw attention to violence against LGBT people in Russia.

Activists came out with a poster to the building of the city administration. According to them, people paid attention to the picketing, but did not approach and did not ask anything.

"I consider unacceptable any violence against any person. For some reason, it is believed that Chechnya is somewhere far away, and this is our country, this is happening here," said the leader of the initiative group, Yuri.

On January 14, the Russian LGBT network reported the abduction of several dozen people whom Chechen authorities suspected of homosexuality. According to human rights activists, two of them were executed, the republican authorities prevent gays from leaving Chechnya, and about 40 men and women have been detained.

Since 2017, about 150 representatives of the LGBT community have left Chechnya, fearing persecution.
