On January 17, policemen detained the coordinator of the Tambov branch of the "Open Russia" movement, Vladimir Zhilkin. This was reported by the activist himself during a live broadcast on Facebook.
"We're going to the Leninsky district police department," he said. "I was detained on suspicion... let's say, on verification in connection with the murder in the Friendship Park. It is not yet possible to understand what is happening. The reason for the detention is not called. We go for a free ride at the state expense."
Vladimir Zhilkin, along with radio presenter Sergei Stepanov on January 17 at 18:00, were going to broadcast the program "Without censorship with Vladimir Vladimirovich" on the Internet radio station XRadio. The guests of the broadcast were to be the coordinator of the network of regional branches of the movement for the protection of the rights of voters "Golos" Vitaly Averin and coordinator of the "Open Russia" movement in Kemerovo Dmitry Chulikov. The topic of the air "Elections. Legitimacy. Boycott" was actively announced in social networks, including personal page of Vladimir Zhilkin.
"Today's broadcast, it was supposed to be a "bomb". Now they brought me, without explaining the reasons, in fact, I would call it kidnapping," Zhilkin said.
During live Facebook broadcast, he asked his colleague Sergei Stepanov to air. The program "Without censorship with Vladimir Vladimirovich" was cancelled.
Vladimir Zhilkin was already detained in October 2016. The activist himself suggested that the detention was connected with the communists' rally in Tambov. In April 2017 the Leninsky court of Tambov fined him for 25 thousand rubles for the organization and holding of the action "Nadoel". Again, he was detained on May 1, 2017 during the official celebration of the Spring and Labor Day.
