A series of single pickets, dedicated to the Day of Tolerance, were held in Syktyvkar on November 16.

The actions lasted from 12:30 to 14:00 and were held in four places: on the Theater Square, near the memorial "Eternal Flame", near trade center and near chapel in memory of the victims of political repressions. Vyacheslav Slyusarev said that the action organized by him and civil activist Nina Popugaeva was spontaneous.

"We wanted to remind people that there is such a day and it has been celebrating for two years already," said the activist. "We stood with posters for several minutes, replacing each other. Most people passed by, only teenagers or pensioners tried to read the inscriptions on the posters."

According to Slyusarev, only one person became interested in the action, telling the activists that he also stood with a single picket in Vorkuta, protesting against unfair dismissal.

The International Day of Tolerance has been celebrated since 1995, it was proclaimed by the UNESCO international organization in the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance. The document says that intolerance carries threats, such as extremism and xenophobia. The celebration of the Day of Tolerance calls on the people of the world to respect each other, despite differences.
