Another major oil spill occurred in the Usinsk district. The information was recently posted on the Save the Pechora Committee website. The environmental prosecutor's office is working on site along with activists.

According to preliminary information of Save the Pechora Committee, at first oil flowed into the stream, located above the first bridge of the Usinsk — Kharyaga road. Liquid flowed over the surface of the ice, it was trying to be stopped, but this has not been achieved.

When a group of activists of Save the Pechora Committee came to the area of the spill, they found that the oil is already on the ice of Kolva. According to preliminary data, the volume of the spill was about three thousand cubic meters.

"It is still unknown, if the oil got under the ice and the water in the stream and river was polluted. The source of the emergency oil spill is an oil pumping facility "LUKOIL-Komi" LLC. It’s about 1 month left before ice drift on Kolva. Will they have a chance to remove all the oil, or will it be in the suffering river once again?" — activists of the Committee write on the site.

Staff of the specialized professional emergency rescue formation "Priroda" (Nature) work on site. Meanwhile, as "7x7" was reported in the Pechora interdistrict environmental prosecutor's office, members of their supervisory authority have been on the area of the spill since February 16.

Prosecutors confirm the oil spill into Kolva, but can’t enounce exact amounts of pollution yet. There are investigations of Rostekhnadzor and Rosprirodnadzor to be done.
